Lisa Cane
From $148.00 USD
Unit price perLisa Cane
From $148.00 USD
Unit price perNative to southeast Africa, the Dracaena Lisa Cane is a low maintenance tree with dark glossy leaves spilling out the top of its slim, tubular trunks. With its narrow growth and tufty foliage, it's ideal for bringing some life into a corner of your space.
Place your Dracaena where it will receive medium to bright indirect light and avoid extended periods of direct sun. It can tolerate the lower end of moderate light spaces but watering will need to be reduced.
Always be sure to assess your plant’s watering needs upon receiving it. Before giving your plant a drink, it is best to check the moisture level in the soil first to ensure it isn’t moist right beneath the surface. Also, consider aerating the soil of your plant before the initial watering. We compact the soil to avoid shifting during transit, so aerating can help the soil breathe and allow moisture to be released.
Dracaena trees prefer the soil to dry between waterings, but not completely through the pot. Typically, watering every 10-14 days will keep the soil with a nice even level of moisture. You never want the soil to be soggy as this plant can be prone to root rot, however allowing the soil to get bone dry will result in brown tips on the plant's leaves. It’s a delicate balance, but once you fall into a routine, the Dracaena Lisa Cane will react well to regular waterings. The Dracaena also appreciates a humid environment, and will appreciate a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting.
Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides and dust the leaves often so the plant can photosynthesize efficiently. When dusting the leaves, also take the opportunity to inspect the undersides and keep an eye out for pests.
Remember each plant is a unique living thing and may have varying needs, especially in their individual locations. Pay attention to the condition of your dracaena lisa cane and its watering needs and you will have a long and happy relationship.

Nerve Plant
From $16.00 USD
Unit price perNerve Plant
From $16.00 USD
Unit price perNerve plants (Fittonia albivenis) is commonly used as a potted houseplant for decor and livelihood. It is an evergreen perennial with veiner, deep green, egg-shaped leaves called ovate. Although the most popular vein color is a silvery-white, they come in a variety of colors including pink, red, green, and white.
They are not tall plants, growing around three to six inches, but do have a greater trailing spread usually between 12 and 18 inches. They are slow to grow and rarely flower indoors.
In a frost-free climate, nerve plants can be grown as a creeping ground cover in areas with filtered sun, and will bloom with significant reddish or yellowish-white spikes when the conditions are right.
Nerve Plant Care
As beautiful as it is, never plant is somewhat temperamental and tricky to grow as a houseplant. It requires very high, constant humidity, such as is found in a terrarium, and cannot tolerate stagnant conditions. Nerve plant is also sensitive to strong, direct sunlight and can suffer from leaf burn.
When grown indoors, pot a nerve plant in a peaty commercial potting mix. The plant needs to be kept constantly moist with a high level of ambient humidity provided by a humidifier or by placing the pot in a tray filled with pebbles and water.
Light
As a tropical plant that naturally grows in the humid, bright shade of tropical forests, this plant prefers similar conditions when grown as a houseplant. It dislikes full sunlight, preferring bright, indirect sun, such as that offered by north-facing windows.
Keep a nerve plant under fluorescent lights or near diffused light coming in from a sheer curtain. Another good location is in the bathroom, even if there's low lighting.
Soil
Nerve plant grows well in standard potting soil with a peat moss base. It prefers a slightly acidic soil pH. The soil should retain some moisture but should also drain well.
Water
Keeping the plant appropriately moist can be a challenge. Nerve plant is prone to collapse if it's allowed to dry out. Although it will recover quickly if thoroughly watered, repeated fainting spells will eventually take their toll on the plant.
At the other extreme, nerve plants that are allowed to stagnate in water will develop yellowed, limp leaves. If you are unsure, use a moisture meter to help you determine when to water.
Temperature and Humidity
Nerve plant thrives at temperatures around 70°F but will tolerate a range from the low 60s to low 80s. These plants prefer humid conditions similar to those found in rainforests. Regular misting will keep the plants from drying out.
In arid climates or during the dry months of winter, using a room humidifier may be helpful. Most growers find it easiest to grow these plants in terrariums, bottle gardens, or covered gardens where they get high humidity and diffused light. They also do well in steamy bathrooms.
Fertilizer
During its growing season, feed plants weekly with a weak dose of liquid fertilizer formulated for tropical plants. A balanced 5-5-5 fertilizer diluted to half strength is a good formulation.

Painted Leaf Begonia

Unit price perPainted Leaf Begonia
From $24.00 USD
Unit price perPainted-leaf begonias, also known as Begonia rex, require bright, indirect light and regular watering. They prefer a warm, humid environment and should be protected from drafts and heat sources.
When you picture a begonia, you probably imagine the pink or red perennial that blooms in flower boxes and on suburban lawns. However, there are actually more than 2,000 types of begonias, and many of them don't flower at all. One of the most popular, the rex begonia, is a fantastic low-maintenance houseplant for new plant parents. Also called the king begonia (rex means "king" in Latin), it's known for its large, sprawling leaves with tie-dye-like green and purple patterns.
Even though the rex begonia is easy to care for, you should follow some simple guidelines to help your plant thrive. Ahead, we break down exactly what you need to know about caring for a king begonia, from watering and propagating to troubleshooting problems.
Sunlight
For the best growth results, place your rex begonia in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct light will scald its leaves, but too little light will result in a leggy plant with smaller leaves. An east-facing window is ideal, but a south-facing spot that doesn't get blasted with sunlight works too.
Soil and Fertilizer
Rex begonias are very prone to overwatering and root rot, so make sure the soil or potting mix you use is well draining. When shopping for a potting mix, look for "quick draining" or "moisture control" on the package. You can also add pearlite, sand, or drainage rocks to regular potting soil.
These plants benefit from a well-balanced fertilizer every few weeks. You can opt for a liquid plant food or a firm fertilizer. However, once it starts to get cold, slow down on feeding. If you see burn-like signs on the leaf edges, you're adding too much plant food.
Water
Despite being prone to overwatering, rex begonias love a constant supply of moisture. Water your plant when the top layer of the soil begins to feel dry or the leaves start to flag (lightly wilt). If you notice your plant going dormant during the winter months, cut back on watering until it starts growing again.
Rex begonias love room temperature—that's why they're such great indoor plants. Around 70 degrees (and dropping around 10 degrees at night) is perfect for these warm-weather plants. They like some humidity too: Keep it above 50 percent during the growing season.
